Resident Reader: Halewood Library
Ever been to the library with no idea what book you want?
It rarely happens to me (I've got a permanent 'books to read next' list floating around in my head) but I'm sure that with summer approaching plenty of people will be wandering down to their local library in need of a good beach read.
The lady pictured left is hoping she can help...
Sarah Maclennan is a creative writing lecturer at Liverpool's John Moores University and also co-ordinates the Dead Good Poets Society, which promotes live literature events across Merseyside.
Happily, she is now going to be visiting Halewood Library in Leathers Lane, Halewood every Monday for the rest of June.
The idea is that she will give advice on what books are good to read this summer and will also be keen to receive other readers' recommendations.
Ms Maclennan will also work with local secondary school pupils, visit older residents and do arts and crafts with local children - thereby giving libraries and books an all-round boost.
Thumbs up from this blog!
